The End of Winter

..this year winter has dragged on for 6 months.. or so it feels.. finally we're beginning to feel warm and have days toasty enough to just leave the house with a cardi, and not a jacket and scarf..

Hence the parade of spring-themed polyvore creations!  I love polyvore... I'm no celebutante.. I can't go out and buy Hermes boots or Prada shoes, but I love playing around with all of those things with this program.. haven't checked it out?  you can register and have a play at http://www.polyvore.com/

C'mon hot weather!

I wish summer was here...

Floaty dresses, ruffles, lightweight fabrics like silk and brushed cotton... oh I can't wait

Today was a gloomy but romantic rainy day in Melbourne town.. perfectly complimented by a Sunday paper and a San Churro couverture hot chocolate.. As I sat in the cafe waiting for my drink, I realised, I am living my dream..

I used to dream that I could live somewhere cosmopolitan, where I could browse shops, read my paper on the weekend, and feel completely at home and comfy.. and I sat there as it dawned on me, that ..I'm here.. and a grin slowly spread across my face.. I wonder what the cafe staff thought when they saw me staring absentmindedly out the window at the rainy day, with a huge smile :)

As much as I enjoyed the rain today, I'm also looking forward to wearing floaty, ruffly dresses, and spending time in the sun... it's such a wonderful way to feel good.. just being warm and feeling happy.

Thus, my polyvore creation is inspired by that thought..

..Spring.. are you coming?

It's quite literally the middle of winter here in Melbourne town, and yesterday was particularly miserable... but every now and then, I can smell some warmth in the air, like spring is trying very very hard to poke it's head up and see if it's time to come out yet.

I love reading some gorgeous blogs about sewing and fashion -and a lot of them are from lovely bloggers in the Northern Hemisphere.. they've been enjoying the warm weather and making beautiful floaty dresses... I can't wait to start on my own!
Here are a few I've found inspiring....
